The agreement between Pakistan and the IMF is close to being finalized.
According to diplomatic and IMF sources, the meeting of the IMF Executive Board is to be held on August 29 and the staff reports required for the agreement with Pakistan have been received by the IMF Board.
According to the sources, the seventh and eighth review report of the 6 billion dollar loan program of 2019 will be considered in the meeting, and its extension till June 2023 will also be considered in the meeting.
According to diplomatic and IMF sources, the documents provided to IMF board members mention Pakistan’s plans to meet IMF conditions.
Sources say that Pakistan has also submitted a memorandum of understanding to the IMF on economic and fiscal policies.
It should be remembered that an installment of one billion and 17 million dollars will be provided to Pakistan by the IMF and in this regard, Pakistan has fulfilled all the preconditions of the IMF.
A Letter of Intent was also sent to Pakistan by the IMF, which was sent back after approval by the Finance Minister and the State Bank Governor.
